Context
Kick Avenue connects buyers and sellers of collectibles, with quality control and legit checks in between. The company rebuilt its entire system for reliability and scale. I led the front end and built about 80% of what users see.
The legacy platform (Lumen, React, Redux) had years of features and almost no documentation. I maintained it and shipped critical fixes while the new system was being built next to it.
On the revamp I owned the front end architecture: a modular component system shared by the public marketplace and the internal CMS, so both stay consistent and new pages are mostly assembly.

What I built
- 01
Component system first
A UI library and modular page components that serve both the marketplace and the CMS. It sped up delivery and kept the two surfaces visually consistent.
- 02
Guardrails in the linter
I pushed early returns and small functions, moved branching logic out of JSX into custom hooks, and enforced it with lint rules such as a max lines per function limit. Maintainability went up without missing the deadline.
- 03
Wallet top up and cash out
Backend endpoints in Go for the Kick Avenue wallet, integrated with a payment gateway, with strict validation and a complete transaction history.
- 04
Delivery tracking on the legacy platform
Integrated a third party tracking API, cached responses and cloned tracking info into the internal database so pages stay fast and the provider is not hit on every view.
- 05
Close to the infrastructure
Worked inside a microservices setup with Docker, and picked up working exposure to Kubernetes, Terraform and ArgoCD along the way.
